神奈川新聞の2010年9月4日（土）号にワトトの神奈川県大和市でのコンサートが紹介されました。

みなさん、お待たせしました！
ワトト・チルドレンズ・クワイアのアジアツアーがスタートしました。
今年、来日するクワイアーの取材をしてきました。
Hello Everyone!
Watoto Children’s Choir ASIA Tour 2010 has started!
I went to see choir 43 who are coming to JAPAN in September!

スタート地点は英語が通じるシンガポール！
ビーフン、チャーハン、初めての中華料理を毎日食べているワトトのみんな
けっこう中華料理は大丈夫みたいです。
The first country they visit will be Singapore, most people in Singapore can speak in English so they can look after themselves quite well. I saw everyone eating Chinese food, and they really like it!

彼らにとって大人のスタッフは全員「叔父さん、叔母さん」と家族になります。
私ももちろん、彼らにとっては「叔母さん」なワケです。
For the children all Watoto staff become aunties and uncles,
I became their auntie too!

それにしても、今年のメンバーは可愛い〜っ!
最初は笑顔が固かった彼らも、毎日会っている間にうちとけてきた。
笑顔で「叔母さん〜」と話しかけてきてくれる。
They are so cute.
Their face was a bit nervous the first time I saw them,
but they got used to me in the end and were all speaking to me with big smiles.

「みんな、今、どこにいるか知ってる？」と私が質問する。
「シンガポールだよ。」と一人のワトトが答えた。
「次はタイワン、えーっと、ニホン、ホンコン…」
すると、他のワトトも色々な国の名前を口々にくり返す。

「うん、日本で沢山の人が待ってるんだよ。」と私が伝えると、
「うん。日本いきたい〜」とワトトが答えて、皆が笑顔になる。
“Do you know Where you are?” I asked.
“Singapore!” Watoto answered.
“then…Taiwan, Japan and… Hong Kong!”
Everyone has started to shout out the name’s of the countries.

I said
“Lots of Japanese People are waiting for you”
Watoto said
“Japan! Japan!” and smiled.

初めての外国生活にも負けず7歳〜14歳までの彼らはがんばっている。
アジアツアーに入る前に、彼らは３ヶ月間の合宿生活をして、家を離れて生活する訓練もする。（家というのはワトト村で一緒に生活している家のことです。）
4ヶ月間の間、学校の勉強をこなしながら、朝９時〜夕方5時まで歌と踊りの特訓を受け、高いハードルを乗り越えてきたメンバー達。
It’s the first time for them to visit Asia, and they are doing really well.
They have lived away from home for 3 months now, since leaving their country for training and have been practicing singing and dancing from 9am to 5pm everyday for the last 4 months.
Finally, after a difficult training schedule they are here!

背が小さいだけではなく、まだ声も小さくて、大人しいワトト。
日本に来る頃にはきっと、もっと自信がついて、堂々と発言ができるようになっているんでしょうね。
They are still very quiet and small children, but I imagine by the time they get to Japan they will be confident and bold children after gaining confidence,
performing in so many different countries.

撮影も終了し、完了したらみんな大騒ぎ〜〜
Everyone got so excited after the photo shoots!
